Premier League club side, Watford, have cleared Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, fit for Nigeria’s doubleheader against West African archrivals, Ghana, in the World Cup playoff later in March 2022.
In a short message, the Media Officer of the Super Eagles, Babafemi Raji, said: “Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong now fit and cleared by Watford medical team after a mild injury. Resumed full training today. Now in good shape for the World Cup play-offs against Ghana this month.”

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had on 4th March, released a 32-man list of players that will be looked at ahead of the two-legged cracker with Ghana with the inclusion of the defender.
However, it was rumoured that the Watford player may not be ready for the important encounters after picking up an injury earlier.
The news of his fast recovery will be cheering news to most Nigerians having seen the Super Eagles vice-captain leading the team’s defensive line over the qualifiers.
The camp opens in Abuja on 21st March, with a 24 –man final list for the two big games to be released at a later date.
Nigeria take on Ghana in the 20,000 –capacity Cape Coast Sports Stadium from 7.30pm on Friday 25th March, with the reverse leg set for the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, 29th March from 6pm.
The winner over two legs will earn one of Africa’s five tickets to the 22nd FIFA World Cup finals, scheduled for 14th November – 18th December this year in Qatar.
