NDE trains, empower 50 women on spices, seasoning production in Nasarawa

In a bid to address the rate of unemployment, the National Directorate of Employment said it has trained and empowered no fewer than 50 unskilled women on spices and seasoning production in Nasarawa State.

Speaking at the training workshop Tuesday in Lafia, the state coordinator of NDE, Mr Christ Bamsida disclosed that over two hundred participants registered for the programme, but only fifty persons were selected for the training that would last for five days.

He said: “the  50 unemployed women will be trained in various spices making such as curry, jollof rice seasoning, thyme, ‘shayi’ mix, fried rice, ginger/garlic, fish seasoning and barbecue seasoning by professionals.”

Similarly, the NDE has commenced the training of 50 persons on the Enterprises and Finance Clinic in Edo State.

Declaring the training open in Benin Tuesday, NDE Director-General, Mallam Abubakar Fikpo, said the agency has so far trained a total of 850 within the 17 southern states on Enterprise and Finance Clinic through small scale enterprise of the directorate.

He said the essence of the programme was to enhance entrepreneurship within the economy.

Represented by the state NDE coordinator, Mr Solomon Edobor, the DG said the objectives of the clinic include counselling participants to choose the type of business that fits their interests, skills and competencies of participants who may have been in businesses into feasibility business ideas resource persons to mentor participants for the implementation of feasible business plans that have the capability of being funded by financial institutions.
