FG Seeks Inculcation Of Robotics In Pupils At Early Age

The Federal Government has called on private and public schools to include robotics in pupils at early age, saying the country is hungry for technology, and it has to start from somewhere.

The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, made the call in Abuja on Friday at the 2022 First Lego League (FLL) National Robotics Championship, organised in collaboration with CODEINA.

Nwajiuba, who was represented by the Director, Federal Education Quality Assurance Services at the ministry, Dr Ejeh Usman, said this year’s theme ‘Cargo Connect’ was aimed at providing digital solutions to the movement and handling of cargo from the manufacturer to the final destination.

He said: “We are driving for technological advancement. This is where it should start from and then we want all the states to emulate it,”

Founder of CODEINA, Olajide Ademola Ajayi, said the program was introduced in 2014 to empower the next generation of Nigerian students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers.

“We want to start to develop learners who learn and not learners who remember. We are starting to see results of the journey that we have been on,” Ajayi added.
