The Chairman of South-East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has expressed concern over the continuous crumbling of economic activities and development in the South East following the persistent activities of gunmen in the region.
Umahi raised the concern on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Computer Village Estate in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The project, which is targeted at providing over 3,000 jobs is in collaboration with the Association of Computer Village Merchants of Nigeria.
Umahi noted that many businesses in the zone were closing since the beginning of the activities of the gunmen. He said that the Ibos were the enemies to themselves, pointing out that until the activities of the gunmen were halted, the region would continue to suffer economic deprivation and stagnation.
The governor called for concerted efforts towards bringing to an end the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The governor said the 2.5 hectares of land opposite the International Market Abakaliki would be allocated to the association for the establishment of a replica of Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos.
Umahi said that the essence of the partnership was to create job opportunities, enhance economic development and for a more viable economy that would increase the revenue growth of the state.
