Kate Henshaw, Aisha Yesufu, others mourn as cobbler who once made shoes for Osinbajo dies

A Nigerian cobbler, OJ Best, who gained prominence in 2020 after making shoes for Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo is dead. It was gathered that OJ Best died due to a heart attack.

His death was announced on his Twitter page as a picture of the young entrepreneur was shared with the caption, “Painful exit! Call to Glory. The CEO of OJ Best footwear is Dead.”(sic)

The demise of the cobbler has thrown his friends and family members into a gloomy mood with some of them taking to their social media pages, especially Twitter, to mourn the young lad.

Iconic Nigerian actress, Kate Henshaw, while confirming the shoe maker’s demise on her verified Twitter page further urged her fans to pray for the family of the deceased.

The ace screen diva tweeted, “@Ojbest5 is gone… I can confirm… Just got off the phone with his sister. She is heartbroken. Such a young life…gone. Please before we sleep tonight let’s offer up prayers for his soul. May he rest in peace.”

Speaking about his death, human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu via her verified Twitter handle wrote, “Quite sad reading about the death of
@Ojbest5. May God give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Another rights activist, Rinu Oduala while mourning the death of the young businessman took to her verified Twitter account to share these words, “I just called OjBest and his sister picked. She said he had a serious attack and is fighting for his life in the hospital. Please stop posting fake news about his life. Please.”

The Vice President shocked the young man in 2020 when he sent his aides to the shoe designer who said he would make footwear for the VP via his Twitter page and urged Nigerians to tag the VP till he sees the message.

Osinbajo later invited the deceased to Aso Villa to take measurements of his foot to make him shoes.

After the encounter, the young man took to his Twitter account where he shared his excitement with his friends, fans and followers.

He tweeted, “I really cannot contain my joy in expressing this… this is a dream I never thought would happen. Words have failed me and I may not use the appropriate words but I really want to thank his Excellency @ProfOsinbajo for his patronage and support for ojbest footwear.

“I was in the office of the Vice President to take measurements of his feet and later returned to make delivery of the order. Never have I seen a man as humble, simple and ready to support like His Excellency. He is highly friendly and jovial and this made my communication with him easy.

“My initial tweet was to gift a pair of my product and meet him in person, this has been fulfilled I am greatly happy to see that His Excellency uses my product with joy and satisfaction… Once again thank you so much for your patronage @ProfOsinbajo I am most grateful”.
