Police arrest 5 kidnappers, rescue 3 victims

The police in Edo State have arrested five kidnappers and rescued three victims.

The kidnappers, Mohammed Ali, Abdullahi Umar, Bello Tambaya, Hassan Mohammad, Adamu Bello and Babuga, were arrested at their hideout in Udo community of Iguabazua in Ovia South-West LGA, on February 22.

The police spokesman in the state, Bello Kongtons, said the suspects were linked with a kidnapping case reported to the command on February 4.

Kongtons said the principal suspect was currently on the run, adding that the arrested suspects were already making useful statements that would lead to the arrest of other gang members.

Speaking further, Kongtons disclosed that the police, in collaboration with vigilantes, rescued three kidnap victims after a gun battle with their abductors at Unomi in Iddo Okpella, Etsako East LGA.

He gave the names of the rescued victims as Marcellus Ekhayeme, Igbafe Austine and Musa Aliu.
