Aregbesola’s camp kicks as Tinubu congratulates Oyetola

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulated Governor Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola on his victory at the governorship primary election of the party in Osun State.

Tinubu said Oyetola’s resounding victory across the 332 wards in the state is an affirmation of the widely-acknowledged sterling performance of the governor in his first term.

The APC presidential aspirant in a statement on Monday urged Oyetola to extend a hand of fellowship to those who vied for the ticket along with him, stressing that he must endeavour to bring them within the party’s fold ahead of the July 16 governorship election in the state.

Oyetola, backed by Tinubu, polled 222,169 votes to beat Rauf Aregbesola’s candidate, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, who scored 12,921, while former Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuff, came a distant third with 460 votes.

Meanwhile, the faction loyal to the Minister of Interior and former Governor of Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, in the Osun State chapter of the APC has rejected the result of last Saturday’s governorship primary election and urged the appeal committee to nullify it.

The factional chairman, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile, while speaking at a stakeholders meeting on Monday at Oranmiyan House in Osogbo, the state capital, insisted that the primary was a charade that cannot stand.

Salinsile said the primary election was a ruse and that justice has not been served.
