Man remanded for stealing plantain

An Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court has remanded a 30-year-old man, Shedu Abubakar, for stealing bunches of plantain and four iron poles.

The prosecutor, Sgt Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 14, 2021, at about 8am at Idiagba Farm, off Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti.

Sgt Adniyi told the court that the defendant stole 14 bunches of plantain worth N10,000 belonging to one Joseph Ojo, and four iron poles worth N30,000, property of the Federal Teaching Hospital Cooperative, Ido-Ekiti.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his counsel, Mr Olawumi Olowolafe, urged the court to grant him bail.

The magistrate, Mrs Franca Olaiya, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to March 10. (NAN)
