The Executive Director of the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Organization, Imam Fouad Adeyemi, has urged Muslim youths to use the internet for legitimate business, instead of engaging in cybercrime.
Adeyemi stated this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Thursday during a courtesy call on the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir Solih as part of the organisation’s youth empowerment training programme.
He said, “The Muslim youths should explore the boundless opportunities available on the internet to make halal (legitimate) money rather that engaging in cyber fraud and rituals.
“Towards this end, we are going to train 60 undergraduates on how to use their phones to engage in legitimate business on the internet that are permitted in Islam.”
The training is supported by the MacArthur Foundation, the cleric added.
He said similar training had been organised in Sokoto, Kebbi, Kogi, Niger, Osun, Oyo, Lagos and FCT.
