Police probe murder of Keffi varsity student

The police in Nasarawa State have commenced investigation into the alleged murder of a student of Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK), Michael Elechi.

ASP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, revealed this in an interview with Daily Trust in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital on Thursday.

He said the incident was reported by one Joy Anga, a student of NSUK and resident of same compound with the deceased at the Police Station at Angwan Lambo on February 15, around 6:30pm.

“Anga explained that she returned from lectures around 5:40pm and saw the gate of their building half-open, on entering she found the deceased in a pool of blood,” the PPRO said.

He, however, maintained that upon receipt of the report, the police personnel at Angwan Lambo went to the scene and took the victim to the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi where he was confirmed dead.

He said the corpse had been deposited at the hospital’s morgue pending the outcome of investigation.

He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Adesina Soyemi, had directed for an autopsy toward unravelling the rationale behind the death.

Daily Trust learnt that the deceased, before his death, was a final year part-time student of Business Administration at Nasarawa State University Keffi.
