No fewer than four travellers Wednesday were killed and many injured at Bida Bidi Junction of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It was learnt that they were attacked at about 12am Wednesday while passing through Jos, the state capital.
Their bodies have been deposited at the Plateau State Specialists Hospital.
The attack happened hours after two miners were killed at a mining site in Yelwa Zagam community of Jos North LGA.
Daily Trust reports that Bida Bidi Junction where the latest attack occurred is about 2 kilometres away from Yelwa-Zagam where the two miners were killed.
Yelwa-Zagam is one of the communities that suffered gunmen attack on August 26 where more than a dozen of members of the community were killed.
It would be recalled that on August 15, about 25 Fulani travellers were intercepted and killed by hoodlums around Gada-Biyu-Rukuba Road area of the same Jos North.
Our correspondent reports that the travellers of the latest attack were on their way from Kano to Nasarawa State when hoodlums blocked the popular Zaria Road Highway and attacked them.
The Volkswagen Sharon mini bus carrying the travellers was burnt and other vehicles smashed by the hoodlums.
However, the spokesman of the police in the state, ASP Uba Gabriel, while confirming the attack, said only two people were killed.
He added that the commissioner of police was at the scene to restore law and order.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, has condemned the killing of the travellers and the miners.
Lalong, in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Macham, commended security forces for their swift response to restore normalcy.
The governor also commiserated with the families of the victims, assuring them that the government would ensure those behind the attacks were arrested and prosecuted.
The governor also directed the secretary to the state government to coordinate the response and ensure those injured received good care.
