Assisting Nigerian fallen heroes, dependents

This is a clarion call on Nigerians to be wary of individuals and groups who are bent on sabotaging the effort of the Nigerian Legion to assist military widows and ex-servicemen.

There was a recent collaboration by the Nigerian Legion Mass Transit Scheme Ltd., with the Military Widows Association (MIWA), to launch Legion stickers, daily ticket and badges aimed at empowering widows, and the programme is aimed at enabling the Mass Transit to fulfill an enhanced financial obligation to the Legion.

However, following the withdrawal and replacement of the stickers, there has been contention among some members, while some hoodlums, greedy persons and saboteurs, who have formed a cabal are bent on sabotaging this noble effort by printing fake tickets and using these avenues to illegally enrich themselves at the expense of the genuine fallen heroes and their dependents, and so our financial expectations are not forthcoming.

A task force has now been set up to see to the harmonisation and addressing of these challenges. Therefore, all stakeholders to this noble project should come together to see to the success of this objective.

The Nigerian Legion needs assistance to fight these saboteurs because it is concerned with the welfare of widows, fallen heroes and their children and therefore no effort to support this would be too much.
