Lagos biggest polo prize, the Majekodunmi Cup will be the star attraction as the prestigious Lagos international polo extravaganza enters its second stage this week at the legendary Ribadu Road polo arena in Ikoyi.
Lagos Polo Tournament Manager, Seyi Oyinlola confirmed to Polo Royals that the second stage will run from February 14 and climax on February 20, 2022, with two Lagos’ teams and three visiting teams gunning for the biggest and one of Africa’s most wanted polo titles.

Two big subsidiary cups, the Italian Ambassador’s Cup and the Lagos Heritage Cup reputed as one of the most revered polo prizes in Nigeria, would add to the glamour of this international fiesta that started with fanfare February 8 with thirty teams from across the country jostling for top honours.
Polo Royals confirmed that other top contenders to the Majek Cup title include Abuja Almat team that won the cup on first attempt in 2019, former finalist Jos Malcomines powered by Murtala Laushi, Kano Lintex and Lagos Caverton team.
Polo Royals can also report that the opening week featured eight teams from Port Harcourt, Kano, Abuja and Lagos that fielded four teams in their quest to win the event’s second most wanted prize, the Open Cup.
The international Lagos polo festival reputed as one of the biggest polo carnivals in the continent is billed to climax on February 27 with 17 equally matched teams contesting for the Lagos Low Cup and the Silver Cup respectively.
