Movie Review: Kwana Casa’in season 6

Kwana Casa’in is one of the famous TV series dramas shown on Arewa24. The series started in 2018 and has enjoyed huge followership from the first season to the current season running, season 6.

The series was said to be an editorial decision taken by the management of Arewa24 when the management thought it wise to look at a different dimension to what the station’s series Dadin Kowa is giving to the audience. Kwana casa’in has been a series that is aimed at exploring corruption in a way that the audience will be informed, entertained as well as educated on the negative impact of the act in northern Nigeria in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

This TV drama came with a different approach to fighting societal vices through drama with several aspect of entertainment values that drama brings, It is apparent that the producers of the series have done their homework perfectly in successfully inserting the entertainment concept because without the entertainment aspect in the drama the whole approach will all be boring.

SPONSOR AD

It started with corruption in education, health, and most importantly in the power sector. The producers and script writer carefully enrolled the theme of the movie in a government system of a fictional state governed under a democratic system of government. Through that, the series did wonderfully well in trying to address several societal vices affecting the country by introducing these lined up vices through the series. Season 6 is trying to address the environment and other issues related to corruption.

It is a story built around two elite families, one has ruled the fictional state and lost in his bid to secure a return ticket as he lost the election against the incumbent governor. The two characters of current and former governors were played excellently by the characters that one will feel as if he or she is connected to real life happenings.

However, a strong hatred and opposition began between the two, and in the drama, it was portrayed that the former government led by Alhaji Bawa Mai Kada was engulfed in a series of corruptions and other vices while the current government of Alhaji Adamu is portrayed to be a responsive and responsible government. An investigation is also ongoing on the activities of the past government, which leads to the arrest and detention of the former governor of Alfawa State (fictional state in the series) and many of his allies.

Similarly, in season six a strong entertainment element was introduced in the character ‘Rayya’ who was a village champion that got rehabilitated and wanted only men with riches. The drama had painted a very comical scene in the lifestyle of ‘Rayya’ and her lovers. Indeed, the producers of the series have done a very good job in injecting a comical act in the storyline of Kwana Casa’in.

Perhaps the steps taken during pre-production, production and post-production was what gave the series an upper hand in maintaining a strong link in the storyline to ensure  that the message and character development were interwoven with one season to the other, to give the series the expertise touch it exhibits since 2018. It was also on record that the series has been embedded with several messages for societal benefit. It was also reported that, the reason why Kwana casa’in became hot cake was that, every actor and actress cast in the series had gone through auditioning as the producers have made it open to all and sundry.  In the history of Hausa movie making, Kwana casa’in was the first to record over a thousand people that came for auditions, and it was through the auditioning that characters like Hajiya Rabi, Rayya, Sahabi, Salma and others secured the roles they play in the series.

No doubt, the effects introduced in the TV drama, the quality of the pictures and sound are unique and precise. Also, interestingly, the series keeps improving with every season. The series seems to enjoy a very wide audience taking into consideration its performance on social media as its fan base on various social media platforms is  overwhelming, it is a TV drama that every fan doesn’t want to miss.
