The same Waja youths were accused of carrying out similar attacks on Nyuwar and Jessu communities sometime in April last year. According to eyewitness accounts, the soldier was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The attack, however, continue unabated in Nyuwar as the combined team of security operatives stationed in the community was reportedly outnumbered by the attackers.
Several houses were reportedly burnt or destroyed, as women, children and the aged were forced to escaped to neighbouring villages for refuge.
The Gombe State Police Command could not be reached for comment, as they were said to be busy containing the situation.
