Both in Kannywood and among many social media users in northern Nigeria, the name Sadiya Haruna is known for various reasons. The controversial actress who was first noticed in the industry in 2017 through her debut, “Bakon Lagos,” has been involved in several scandals, from once being made by a Shariah court to attend islamiyya school for six months as punishment for her unacceptably lewd and seductive dances on her social media accounts, to being banned from acting in the Kannywood altogether, in 2021. Recently, she was sentenced to a six-month jail term by a magistrate court in Kano for defaming her ex-husband on social media in which she called him a homosexual,  pimp, among names.
