The Ekiti State U-17 female cricket team has won the 3rd edition of the just concluded South-West Zonal qualification series of the National Under-17 Cricket Championship held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The General Manager of the State Sports Council, Mr Kunle Adeyemi who made this known in Ado Ekiti, said that the team also won the last edition in 2021.

While commending the resilience of the players and their coaches, Adeyemi described their success as a product of hard work.
He stressed the need for the team to keep up the good work and assured that the State Government would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring their general well-being.
Adeyemi also called on parents and guardians to encourage their children and wards to participate in sports, stressing that it is also a veritable avenue for scholarship and employment opportunities.
In a related development, the State under-12 female handball team has also won the Southwest Under-12 Handball Championship similarly held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Adeyemi said a member of the team, Joy Momodu, emerged the Most Valuable Player and also the Highest Goal Scorer of the tournament just as
a few other players in the team were also selected to represent the South West Team at the national level.
