FCT election: Christian youth leaders call for peace

Ahead of the February 12 FCT area council elections, Christian youth leaders have urged young Nigerians not to allow politicians use them for selfish gains to ensure the success of the election.

Speaking at a workshop titled “Engaging the youth for valuable reasons” on Thursday in Abuja, a Christian youth leader and motivational speaker, Dr. Femi Joshua, said several programmes have been lined up from now till after the 2023 general elections to sensitize the youths to be better persons in their various communities.

The programme was also part of the formal inauguration of the African School of Sales and Marketing (ASSAM), which he founded.

“The FCT area council elections is an opportunity to elect competent persons for the development of the FCT and well being of the people. We urged the youths to shun violence and apathy. They should do the right thing for the interest of all,” Joshua said.

He also said that the African School of Sales and Marketing (ASSAM), which he founded, has opened in the country to solve business and marking related problems.

The online school, which was inaugurated in Abuja, offers diplomas, personal development and professional certification in 168 courses.

Speaking during the ASSAM inauguration ceremony, Dr. Joshua, said the school offers three-month certification in personal development, workplace essential, and six-month diploma certification in supply chain management, entrepreneurship, project management, as well as sales and marketing courses.

He said the school was birthed to resolve gaps in the study and practice of selling among entrepreneurs and business professionals through learning initiatives on modern sales and selling training programmes.

“ASSAM is a firm modeled as a vocational framework vis-a-vis management consulting. We offer knowledge transfer and consulting through curriculum training, coaching and advisory services in contemporary sales and marketing strategies for business development thus bridging the gap of trending challenges and marketing among African businesses,” he said.

He also said that students could study online at their pace with 24-hour access to lectures which are available in text, audio and video formats.

Joshua explained that the school also offer training to clients, noting that it was equally fully involved in recruitment, compensation and incentives, salesperson development, sales coaching and performance management and reporting.

Also, the Director, FCTA Education Resource Centre, Hajiya Nimat Abdulraheem, called for more skills acquisition programs and businesses that could ensure that not less than 50 percent of Nigerian youths are taken off the streets and gainfully engaged.
