Aboubakar slams teammates for loss to Egypt

Cameroon captain, Vincent Aboubakar, has accused his teammates of not playing as a team but rather trying to play individual games.

“It’s a big disappointment, in football, you reap what you sow. We have a big team and every time we play as a team, we win.

“In this game, everyone wanted to show what he was capable of and here is the pay off. Whenever we are collectively strong, we win but the moment everyone tries to do what they want, we miss out, Aboubakar said.

Ahead of the semi-final, much of the build-up focused on the Liverpool forward’s rivalry with Aboubakar, who sent him a fiery message insisting Paris Saint-Germain sensation Kylian Mbappe is a better player.

“He doesn’t impress me much.I say it clearly because I’m an honest person and I have my way of seeing things. If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much” he said.

“He’s a good player, he scores a lot but he doesn’t produce a lot of stuff in the game. Of course, he’s doing good stuff in the Premier League because he’s been in a team that’s been there for years.

He however refused to speak to journalists waiting in the mixed zone following his controversial comments about Mohamed Salah.

Cameroon were also semi-final losers when they hosted the finals 50 years ago with the 1972 edition being won by Congo.
