Defence counsel to Abduljabbar, led by Ambali Obomeileh Muhammad, SAN, applied for the recall of the first prosecution witness to re-appear before the court for cross-examination.
The prosecution counsel, led by Barrister Sa’ida Suraj, SAN, objected to the application and asked the court to withdraw the application.
“They have been given enough time, at least 4 weeks to prepare.
“We are going to hearing of defence and they brought this now. It is just a waste of time.”
However, the judge granted the defence application and ordered the first prosecution witness to re-appear before the court.
The case has been adjourned to February 17.
Abduljabbar is being prosecuted over four new count charges bothering on blasphemy and using of offensive words on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during his teachings, which are against the provisions of section 382(b) of Kano State Shari’ah Law, 2000.
