A neighbour of the deceased, who craved anonymity, said the late hunter came out with his dane gun when he heard noise around his compound.
He said the bandits opened fire on him as soon as he (hunter) stepped out of his house.
“When he entered his house, he thought the bandits had already kidnapped his wife because he couldn’t find her in her room. So he ran after them with his dane gun but they shot him,” he said.
Daily Trust also gathered that the bandits entered another house where they picked a housewife but later released her.
The hunter has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
Calls to the State Public Relations Officer ASP Jalige were unanswered at the time of this report.
