The First Lady of Katsina State, Hajiya Hadiza Bello Masari, has launched a drug and other substances abuse advisory and counselling centre in Musawa, Katsina State.
Mrs Masari, who recently commissioned the centre under her pet project: “Centre for the Advancement of Mothers and Children”, in collaboration with one Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu (Talban Musawa), admonished youths to ensure they voted leaders who would fight the indiscriminate use of drugs.
While attributing social vices to drug abuse, she lauded Alhaji Abdullahi for his vision and contribution in the fight against drug abuse, and called on other wealthy individuals across the state to emulate him.
In his address, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the centre, Chief Judge (CJ) of Katsina State, Justice Musa Danladi, tasked parents, community and religious leaders to double their effort in the fight against drug abuse in order to make the nation a better place.
Justice Danladi said, “What people who engage in drug abuse need is care and guidance, rather than hatred and stigmatisation. They need to be sensitised on the negative effects on them, their families and the larger society.”
In his remarks, the donor, Alhaji Abdullahi, promised to provide similar structures in other places in collaboration with the first lady for the benefit of the state.
