Lawan, Buni, Abubakar, Bagudu bag traditional titles in Yobe

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan; Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni; his counterparts from Jigawa and Kebbi states, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and Abubakar Atiku Bagudu respectively, were honoured with traditional titles in Machina emirate council of Yobe State on Sunday.

The Emir of Machina, Alhaji Bashir Albishir Ibn Bukar Machinama, made the announcement Sunday at the grand finale of Machina Annual Cultural Festival (MACUF 2022).

Lawan was conferred with the title of “Dan Masanin Machina”, Buni as “Zanna Gaddama of Machina”, Abubakar as “Dokajin Machina”, and Bagudu as “Dan Malikin Machina”.

Addressing the gathering, the Emir of Machina noted that the presentation of the title was a symbol of honour, friendship and appreciation to the leaders who graced the occasion.

He said the Machina Annual Cultural Festival (MACUF) is an event set aside to showcase the peace and deep cultural heritage of Machina chiefdom.

The monarch preached unity and promotion of cultural values.

The occasion saw a variety of cultural displays which included horse riding, local wrestling competitions, traditional singing, dances among others.

Apart from the Senate President and three governors who witnessed the occasion, other dignitaries present were top emirs and influential businessmen from within the country and the Niger Republic.
