The Yobe State Government has started the distribution of 100,000 textbooks, laboratory equipment, and an enhanced feeding programme to secondary schools across the 17 local government areas of the state.
Speaking shortly before launching the programme, Governor Mai Mala Buni said he was impressed by the students’ performance in the national examinations over the last few years.
He said it was part of efforts to support the government’s drive to revitalise basic education in order to provide a strong foundation for the development of education in the state.
According to him, it is only when the state has educated and equipped citizens that it can explore and exploit its rich human and natural resources.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Basics and Secondary Education, Dr Sani Idriss, stated that the state has all to celebrate considering the successes recorded since the assumption of this administration.
