Egypt match, one of my best in two years – Simon

Super Eagles forward, Moses Simon, has said his performance in the opening Group D game with Egypt on Tuesday was one of his best games in the last two years.

He stated this on Friday during the press conference ahead of the clash with Sudan today in the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

“It’s one of my best games in the last two years. We changed the coach and tactics. Every coach has his own mentality. With the current coach, he gave me the freedom to express myself. It really helped me a lot,” he said,

The Nantes striker also acknowledged the team is far from being perfect and is making efforts to improve their game play in the competition.

Simon was impressive as the Augustine Eguavoen led Super Eagles showed quality to defeat Pharaohs by a lone goal on Tuesday.

He played a major role when the Super Eagles took the lead at the 30,000-capacity Stade Roumde Adjia in the northwestern city of Garoua.

His cross was only partially cleared by Ahmed Hegazy and Nigerian Joseph Aribo nodded the ball into the path of Iheanacho who hammered a half-volley past goalkeeper Mohamed Elshenawy.

“We are working on the finishing. The coaches are making sure we get things right. We are not perfect. We are trying to improve on our game.

“The mood in camp is positive, we are all doing well. Egypt is one of the big team. There is no small side in Africa,” he said.
