Gov’t to spend N30bn on 1,962 housing units

Nasarawa State Government has partnered with ABS Blueprint Consortium Limited to construct Nasarawa Technology Village, Aso Pada, in Karu Local Government Area of the state at the rate of N30 billion.

The project, which consists of 1,962 housing units’ estate, technology hub and other facilities, is being executed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. 

Speaking at the groundbreaking for the project, Governor Abdullahi Sule explained that it became imperative to start the project due to the need to help citizens benefit from technological innovations.

The governor promised that his administration would woo more investors to construct a dedicated link road to the estate to address the persistent road traffic in the area.

Contributing, the Minister for State, Science and Technology, Muhammed Abdullahi, reiterated the federal government’s commitment to supporting technological development in the state.

On his part, the Managing Director of ABS Blueprint Consortium, Mr Mohammed Yunusa, said the 1,962 units’ technology village would comprise 668 units of one-bedroom flats, 558 units of two-bedroom flats, 376 units of two-bedroom bungalow and 360 units of three-bedroom bungalows.

According to him, the village would have a technology hub with offices for local and international IT companies for the training of more than 2,000 students annually as software engineers, who would be helped to outsource jobs globally that could earn them as high as 3,000 US dollars monthly.

He revealed that the housing component of the project alone was N22 billion, while the other features including the independent power plant would gulp about N8 billion.
