Daily Trust’s regional head of security dies at 40

The Head of Maiduguri Regional Security guards of Daily Trust, Abdullahi B Umar, has died after a protracted illness.

Aged 40, Umar died at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, on Thursday night.

He was said to have died from kidney complications.

Hundreds of sympathisers including scholars, friends, neighbours and family members witnessed his funeral prayers which held at Bulunkutu area of Maiduguri metropolis, on Friday.

The deceased is survived by his wife, a daughter and other relatives.

One of his colleagues, Ibrahim Ali, described him as God-fearing and kind hearted.

H said, “I worked with him for eight years; I have never come across a mature person who respected people, no matter their status. When you make a mistake as his subordinate, he would guide you not to repeat the mistake. We will greatly miss his leadership qualities; we pray that the Allah grant him eternal rest.”
