Explosives were thrown into Dikenafai Police Station in Ideato South Local government area of Imo State, on Thursday.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Mike Abattam, said policemen engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle.

Abattam said, “06/01/2022 at about 2. 30 am , at Ideato South Police Station, some unknown gunmen who came in their numbers, shooting sporadically, throwing an Improvised Explosive Devices (I.E.D) into the station.
“The hoodlums were immediately repelled by the Command’s tactical teams and the police operatives of the division. And in the ensuing gun duel, the hoodlums were overwhelmed by the superior fire-power of the police resulting in several of them fleeing into the bush with various degrees of bullet injuries.
“However, no life or arms was lost and the detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (I.E.D) only caused minimal damage,” thestatement added.
The latest attack came few days after the palace of the traditional ruler of Amaifeke in Orlu local government area, Eze E.C Okeke.
