Residents of Imashayi, a community in Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State have decried the bad state of their road and the insecurity bedevilling the area.
Some of their complaints include poor road network, lack of potable water, insecurity and lack of industries in the area among others.
They cried out to the governor of the state, Mr. Dapo Abiodun, to come to their aid by providing social amenities for residents of the community.
The Balogun of Imashayi, Chief Timothy Akinleye and a community leader, Prince Rahman Oniyide-Ajayi, who spoke on behalf of the residents at an annual celebration which held in the community, lamented lack of development in the community under the Dapo Abiodun-led government.
According to Oniyide-Ajayi, the gap between the community and the state has affected the standard of living of the people of the community. “We are far behind when it comes to development in Imashayi. There is no commercial viability in Imashayi, no bank and banks will not just come if there is nothing to be deposited there. There is also economy gap between Imashayi and Ogun State as the only industry functioning here is Dangote company. We cannot rely on Dangote,”
Also, High Chief Akinleye decried erratic power supply to the community, saying, it discourages industrialists from establishing in the community. He also lamented the deplorable road network in the community.
He said, “We want good road network to connect Imashayi with Abeokuta, Ilaro, Igbogila, Ijohun, Shawonjo and all the surrounding towns in Yewa axis so that our farmers can easily market their products. We also want borehole and electricity.”
The event, which attracted youths and aged men and women from the town, featured some games and activities such as ludo and boxing among other local sports.
