Bosso United Football Club of Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State has emerged winner of the Emir of Minna under 14 Federation of Youth Soccer Clubs (FEYSOC) championship.
The club defeated Flash Arrows Football Club of Minna by 2 goals to nil to lift the trophy.
The age-grade championship was organised in honour of the Emir of Minna, Dr Umar Farouk Bahago by the Federation of Youth Soccer Club with the support from the Commissioner of Investment, Dr Jibrin Mustapha.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the finals at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium over the weekend, the Director-General of the Federation of Youth Soccer Clubs (FEYSOC), Niger State Chapter, Alhaji Umar Batako Lapaj promised to resuscitate age-grade football competition in the state.
He lamented over the disappearance of the age-grade competitions, particularly those organized by FEYSOC.
Alh. Batako Lapai said FEYSOC was the cradle of grassroots football development and as such, they will do their best to see that all FEYSOC organised competitions are resuscitated for the growth and development of the round leather game.
“When you talk of grassroots football development, FEYSOC is number one. Grassroots football development is not complete without FEYSOC because FEYSOC organises all age-grade competitions where hidden talents are discovered and nurtured into stardom,” he said.
