Some Areas in Minna, the Niger State Capital has been thrown into total blackout following a fire incident at the Minna Transmission Station of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
The management of the company, in a statement on Sunday, said areas of Tunga, Farm Centre, General Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi Housing Estate, David Mark road, Maitumbi, Gurusu, Emir Palace, Anguwan Sarkin, Anguwan Daji, Sabon Gari, Limawa, Moris, Police Barrack, Keteren Gwari, Airport Quarters and Commissioner Quarters will be out of electricity supply.

The fire incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
The management of the company also confirmed in a statement that the fire incident which occurred at 33kv power House injection substation, in Minna, the state capital had caused damages to its equipment.
AEDC’s management however assured customers that its team of engineers were working to address the problem, saying that “we regret any inconvenience on our esteemed customers in Niger State at this period.
Daily Trust gathered that the customers in the affected areas have resorted to use of generating sets as a source of power since Sunday morning, especially to charge their phones and other gadgets.
One of the customers in Tunga, Minna, Mallam Shuaibu Mohammed, said he got only for two hours on Saturday night after which it went off.
“Our phones are with commercial chargers. There’s no light since in the morning,” he said.
