Two villagers who were abducted at Orobomi community in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State have regained their freedom after payment of N1.4 million ransom to their abductors.
Daily Trust had reported that some suspected kidnappers had on Sunday, December 19, 2021, invaded Orobomi village where they killed a young man and abducted two persons identified as Ibrahim and Salihu.

A family member of the victims, Saidu Salihu, said they were set free on Tuesday, evening around 8:12 pm near Osuku forest in neighbouring Kpareke along the Kotonkarfe area of Kogi State.
He said the kidnappers had earlier demanded N10 million after contact was established, adding that families of the victims later raised N1.4 million after intensive negotiations.
“The family had to sell some properties, including some farm produce, to raise the N1.4 million to pay the ransom,” he said.
He said the two victims are currently on a medical checkup at an undisclosed hospital in Lokoja.
The spokesman of the Kogi State police command, DSP Williams Ovey Ayah, did not pick calls or reply to text messages sent to him about the incident.
