The Commissioner of Kafanchan Municipal Authority (KMA) and Chairman of the Governing Board, Phoebe Sukai Yayi, has allayed fears that the newly created authority will usurp the roles and responsibilities of the local government councils under it.
Yayi, who spoke at Kafanchan while inaugurating board members of the authority on behalf of Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i said the Municipal Authority was instead, established to complement efforts of the LGC’s in developing their respective areas.

She said El-Rufai intends that the metropolitan areas be administered based on the Abuja model; as a single integrated entity, hence the need for members of the board to rise to the occasion.
Daily Trust reports that members of the Governing Board were drawn from the three Local Government Areas of Jema’a, Kaura and Zangon Kataf that constitute the Kafanchan Municipal Area.
