Bello moves against kidnappers, as JNI holds prayers for peace

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has restated his commitment to addressing insecurity challenges in the state.

The governor who noted that he was averse to the payment of ransom, said his government was on the trail of those that kidnapped the mother of his Chief of Staff (CoS), Mrs Seriya Raji.

Gov Bello disclosed this in Lokoja Friday at a special prayer session organised by the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in compliance with the directive of His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar lll, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of JNI, to pray for peace in the country.

Gov Bello who was represented by Alhaji Salihu Sani, his SSA on Religious Matters (Islam), commended President General of JNI for the initiative, saying all hands must be on deck to see to the end of the banditry that had bedevilled the country. 

He said his administration had zero tolerance to any form of crime, stressing that with the cooperation of all, kidnapping and other related crimes would be handled with dispatch and the society would enjoy the needed peace.

In his remarks, Ambassador Usman Bello, Kogi State Chairman of JNI, said the special prayers were to assist leaders to have the wisdom to take decisive actions for peace and tranquility of the country.
