The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wheeled a new record of national peak electricity generation of 5,801.40 megawatts (MW) and created the Kano Transmission Region this year, said the Acting Managing Director, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz.
The TCN head who stated this in his end-of-the-year message said: “In the course of the year, strategic management decisions have paid off, enabling the completion of several abandoned projects, prompt maintenance, upgrade and repair/restoration of vandalised transmission lines and facilities, installation of new transformers and substations, re-calibration and reconfiguration of transmission lines and transformer protection schemes.

“We take pride in the fact that these measures effectively reduced the frequency of system disturbance and collapse, resulting in an all-time national peak generation of 5,801.40MW, which was successfully transmitted on March 1st, 2021. This is quite commendable.
“Other milestone achievements include the creation of the Kano region, bringing to ten (10) TCN’s regional operation centres in the country,” Abdulaziz explained.
