The member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Micah Jiba, has commenced a five-day free cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment for 10,000 people in the territory.
Speaking to journalists at the Gwarinpa General Hospital, one of the venues of the exercise, Jiba said eye was an important organ of the body, saying “if you don’t have sight you are automatically zero.’
He added that the free medical outreach was been conducted by no fewer than 20 medical consultants.
The Programme Officer, NPHCDA, Dr Suleiman Lamorde, said he would continue to partner with the National Assembly to provide effective healthcare services to the people.
Lamorde said the essence of the medical treatment was to bring health care service closer to the people.
Also, the FCT Chairman of People’s Democratic Party, Zaka Sunday, commended the lawmaker for assisting the people.
The free medical outreach which is going on simultaneously at Kubwa, Gwarinpa and Bwari General Hospitals, is being supervised by the official of the National Primary Health Centre Development Agency.
