The Ogun State Government says parents in public secondary schools will henceforth sign undertaking on behalf of their children over incidents of assault on teachers, hooliganism, cultism and other unruly conducts among students.
The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, made this known on Friday during the defence of the ministry’s 2022 budget presentation before members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
Arigbabu noted that the development would ensure peace, both within and outside the school environment.
The commissioner said the ministry was equally reviving sporting activities to further engage pupils in extra-curriculum activities, in addition to the resuscitation of moral teaching during morning devotion.
Defending the ministry’s proposal for 2022, Arigbabu told the lawmakers that a total of N6.094 billion was the expenditure for 2022.
He explained that N2.50 billion was being earmarked for the construction of 60 units of a block of three classrooms, 49 units of a block of 2 classrooms, eight units of technical workshops/science laboratory and rehabilitation of public schools across the state.
