The House of Representatives Thursday asked the Federal Ministry of Transport and the Nigerian Railway Corporation to repair and upgrade the Gudi, Makurdi, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe and Maiduguri Railway routes.
This followed the adoption of a motion by Aliyu Mukhtar Betara (APC, Borno), Dachung Musa Bagos (PDP, Plateau), Umar Muda Lawal (APC, Bauchi), Solomon Maren (PDP, Plateau) and six others.

The lawmakers said the Gudi, Makurdi, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe and Maiduguri railways linking most of the North-Central and North-East states had been in a deplorable state for almost two decades.
The House also urged the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and the Federal Airports Authority of Niger to remove all abandoned non-functional aircraft from all airports across the country.
This was sequel a motion by Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro (APC, Lagos), Bayo Balogun (APC, Lagos), Hunpe Babatunde (APC, Lagos), James Faleke (APC, Lagos), A.B Adejare (APC, Lagos), Dolapo Badiru (APC, Lagos), Ganiyu Johnson (APC, Lagos) and six others.
They said a large number of abandoned, non-functional aircrafts littering airports across the country “gives an impression that Nigeria is a dumping ground for old aeroplanes.”
