The federal government on Wednesday tasked the leaders of the Hausa and Muslim communities in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State on the need to revert to the old ways of peaceful coexistence among Nigerians living anywhere in the country.
Acting State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Benue State, Joseph Ijir, gave the charge when he led the staff of the agency to pay an advocacy visit to the Sarkin Hausawa in Makurdi, Alhaji Rayyanu Abdullahi Sangami, in the company of his ward heads (Mai Anguwa) at his palace in Wadata area of Makurdi.

Ijir said the advocacy was in furtherance of the agency’s peace campaign as a strategy to address the many security changes bedevilling the nation.
Responding, the Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Sangami, thanked the agency for the awareness, noting that he and his community heads had not relented in ensuring peace in the community, adding that the visit of the agency’s team was a big encouragement to them to redouble their efforts.
In the same vein, the Kindred Head of North Bank Ward II, Alhaji Yusuf Maikyau Baba, while responding to the NOA team, said they have received the message with appreciation to the government.
Meanwhile, the NOA’s acting state director, further presented the national flag donated by Access Bank as a symbol of peace to the Muslim community, represented by the Deputy Chief Imam, Mallam Idris.
