Search for my successor, Wike urges Rivers elders

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike says he has directed elders and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to begin the search for someone with the capacity and passion to defend the interest of the state to succeed him.

A government house press statement signed by the governor’s Special Assistant on Media, Kevin Ebiri, on Tuesday quoted the governor during his birthday party at his private residence in Port Harcourt as saying his successor will be somebody that has the interest of the state.

“I have dedicated this my birthday to make sure that whoever that is going to succeed me will be for the interest of the Rivers people; will be for the interest of the development of Nigeria,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.

Wike, in the statement, narrated how he was hoodwinked to attend the birthday party that was secretly organised by his wife at his sports complex and thanked God for granting him a fruitful and eventful life.
