Pandemonium as kidnappers invade Taraba market, abduct traders

There was pandemonium at the Pakri grain market in the Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State as men armed with sophisticated weapons invaded the market and abducted three grains merchants.

Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen, numbering up to twelve, invaded the market situated along Jalingo-Bali road in the early hours of Sunday and abducted the three merchants.

Business activities were brought to a halt as traders abandoned their wares and ran to the nearby mountain and forest for safety.

The invasion of the market by the kidnappers came two days after a retired senior civil servant and three others were abducted by kidnappers at Anguwan Baraya in Jakingo metropolis.

Daily Trust reports that in recent weeks, villages in Taraba State have come under attack by kidnappers who abducted no fewer than 30 people, including a District head of Amar.

Areas that came under attacks of gunmen includes parts of Karim-Lamido, Bali, Jalingo, Gassol and Bali local government areas of the state.

The spokesperson of Taraba State Police Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the incident but said he was yet to get more details from the Divisional Police Officer of Bali on the attack.
