Yari, Matawalle’s camps ‘clash’ over Yarima’s statement on excos dissolution

A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State led by a former governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari has clashed with the camp of the state governor, Bello Matawalle, over the statement of Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima on the litigation challenging the dissolution of the party’s State Working Committee (SWC).

Daily Trust reports that APC in Zamfara State has been divided into three – the faction of Yari, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa and the governor’s camp which has Senator Yarima as the leader.

Yarima, had during a meeting at the weekend, said the suit challenging the dissolution of the executives would soon be thrown out.

But Yari’s faction which instituted the suit following the dissolution of the SWC by the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee sequel to the defection of Matawalle faulted Yarima’s statement.

Chairman of Yari’s faction, Alhaji Lawal Liman, in a statement on Wednesday said it is unfortunate that Yarima is only interested in politics and issues that further “compound the problems” of the people of the state.

“Rather than playing the role of father to all, Yarima’s interest is always on fuelling the feud among party members in the state. He seems to be blaming everyone for his failed presidential ambition.

“We don’t know when Yarima became a judge. The courts cannot be bought, influenced or intimidated.

“The worthy example of the Supreme Court judgement that brought Yarima’s new master to power and the recent judgement recognizing Shekarau’s faction in Kano are enough for all failed politicians like Yarima to know that Nigeria’s judiciary has come of age and will always do the right thing regardless of which side the federal government is supporting in a particular case,” Yari’s faction said.

In its swift reaction, the publicity secretary of the Matawalle’s camp, Yusuf Idris, described Yari’s camp as bad losers.

Yusuf said the Yari-led exco of the party was not elected but appointed as caretaker committee and was dissolved by the same body that appointed them therefore they should not complain about anything.

He said party congresses were duly conducted under the supervision of representatives of the national headquarters at the ward, local government and state levels.

“Therefore, those saying that the dissolution won’t stand are disgruntled elements who wish no well for the state and the party. They are bad losers,” Yusuf said.
