The Commander-General, who described the passage of the VGN Bill by the House of Representatives as a major landmark in the outgoing year, said the bill if signed into law would further strengthen the nation’s security apparatus.

According to him, VGN is committed to supporting President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in ending insecurity in the country.

He, therefore, advised officers and men of the group not to relent in the discharge of their duties to ensure national security and development.

In a paper entitled “Internal Threat”, a Guest Speaker and Retired Assistant Director from the Department of State Security, DSS, Mr Mohammed Bello, commended the contributions of VGN in combating banditry, kidnapping, Boko Haram and other forms of insecurity in the country, especially in the northern part of the country.

Mr Bello stressed the need for constitutional backing for VGN to further enhance the security of lives and property in the country.

While lauding the selfless service of officers and men of the organisation, he also emphasized the need for state and local government authorities to always render logistics support to VGN for improved security in rural areas.
