Nigerian Army wins inaugural Jaji polo tourney

The Nigerian Army polo team has made history as the first-ever winners of the prestigious Jaji inaugural polo tournament that climaxed with fanfare in Jaji, Kaduna last weekend. 

The tourney which was one of the major highlights of the commissioning ceremony of the new polo facility named after the immediate past Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai saw the EL-Amin Cup champions, defeated three other oppositions to clinch the event biggest prize, COAS Cup.

Polo Royals can also report the rampaging Army team edged the ambitious Badako/Zaz team 2-1 in a tense final watched the Emir of Katsina, HRH Abdulmumuni Kabir  Usman, Sports Minister, Sunday Dare,  Chief of Army  Staff,  Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya,  top military brass and polo enthusiasts.

Buratai Polo Club Manager Buratai Polo Club, Jaji, Dawule Baba who described the tournament as a huge success, thanked all the players, the invited guests and the teeming polo buffs who arrived in their droves, for making the commissioning ceremony successful and memorable.

We promised to work on these inaugural successes and make subsequent tournaments on this club one of the biggest in the country, Dawule who is the Nigerian national team coach, told Polo Royals in his closing remarks.
