Police parade 9 for murder, kidnapping in Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command has paraded nine suspects, including two women, arrested for murder, kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms and other crimes in the state.

While parading the suspects at the police command yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, the police said they included Jimoh Dele, popularly called Dele Petim, who was arrested in llorin, Kwara State, for the kidnap of a popular petrol dealer in Ekiti State in January 2021.

The command said Dele had confessed to specialising in burglary and stealing of motorcycles, and has burgled more than 10 shops/houses and carted away more than 12 motorcycles.

Also paraded was one Ayo Samuel, a 63-year-old dismissed policeman, who confessed to be a member of the kidnap gang in the state. Another suspect was one Mubarak Bello, in Igbara-Ode-Ekiti, who demanded N50,000 ransom for a kidnapped lady, Abdullahi Shekina, on November 8, 2021.

A woman, Nana Sule, who faked her kidnapping on November 20, 2021, along Ifaki/Oye-Ekiti road with some passengers was also arrested and paraded.

The police said she called her husband that kidnappers were demanding N50,000 ransom, but it was  later discovered that she faked her  kidnap to get money from her relatives.
