The Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, has said the federal government will commission the 10 megawatts (MW) Katsina wind farm on December 18.
According to a statement by the ministry, he stated this when he received the Katsina State Elders’ Forum in Abuja Tuesday, saying the delay in key power projects was due to criminality and insurgency.

The Minister said the President Muhammadu Buhari administration is determined to revamp all sectors of the economy, particularly the power sector.
Aliyu said vandalised turbines of the 10 kilowatts (KW) Katsina wind farm project slowed down its completion but that since he assumed office, he has directed resumption of work to meet the 18th of December proposed date of commissioning.
The acting chairman of the forum, Senator Abba Ali Turaki, congratulated the minister on his elevation as a senior minister, noting that the forum was on a follow-up meeting on pending power projects.
Turaki said they are more interested in the completion and commissioning of the 330KVA power project meant to supply electricity to Katsina State and its environs and the wind farm project at Lambar Rimi.
He further said the forum was confident on the early completion of the projects owing to the trajectory of achievement of the minister before he was deployed to head the power ministry.
