NYSC vows to prosecute fake corps members

Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has warned those not ineligible to participate in the youth service to steer clear of the orientation camps.

He gave the warning in Abuja at the weekend through the spokesperson of the NYSC, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, during a press briefing to announce the activities of the 2021 batch C stream 2 orientation programme.

Ibrahim also warned prospective corps members against presenting fake certificates in the camp.

He said anyone not eligible to participate in the youth service or had been duly issued with a Certificate of National Service or Certificate of Exemption, “but so participates or attempts to so participate shall be prosecuted in line with Section 13 Sub-section 2(a) and (b) of the NYSC Act 2004.  

He advised prospective corps members travelling to their camps not to travel at night.

He asked them to board vehicles at the parks managed by the National Union of Road Transport Workers to avoid accidents or any attacks on their way.

He noted that the resumption of the orientation camp had been staggered to run for several days in line with the COVID-19 protocols.
