Top shooting Malcomines high and medium-goal teams, Jos Red Crown and Honourable Aliyu Wadada pivoted Ocean Marine teams all produced polo master class performances to finish tops at the just concluded 2021 Keffi international polo tournament in support of Education in Nasarawa State.
The prestigious polo fiesta hosted by Keffi Polo Ranch, saw the Plateau State flagship team Malcomines led by Murtala Laushi, winning both the high-goal President Cup and the glittering Governor’s Cup respectively.
Polo Royals reports that the quartet of Murtala Laushi, Hamisu Buba, Fernando Munaz and Andrea Crespo finished ahead of host Keffi Ponys in a five chukkas thrilling final, while Malcomines (2) parading Haruna Kari, Asharaf Yahaya, Fernando Munaz and Abba Mohammed overran Kaduna Profile to clinch the Governor Cup.
The high-goal Hosa Cup which was played in honour of a philanthropist and Keffi Polo Ranch Patron, Captain Hosa, saw Wadada’s Ocean Marine team defeating their opponents 8-5 in a fiercely fought game to emerge the first-ever winners of the memorial cup.
The weeklong international polo fiesta threw up new low-goal champions, with Sammy Nasredeen powered Red Crown warriors defeated Abuja Heritage 5-4 in a tense final to clinch the Speakers Cup and ensure a clean sweep of the major prizes by Jos based teams.
