Abia farmers count blessing as FG completes poultry training

Participants at the just concluded training on production, processing and marketing of poultry birds have commended the federal government for the exercise, which they said has turned their lives around for good.

The training, which had 50 participants each from Obuba and Amaku communities, was conducted by the Department of Agricultural Extension, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD).

One of the participants, Miss Adaeze Ogadinma, who spoke with South East Trust at Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu Mini Stadium, Mbato Secondary School, Umungalagu, Eziama Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South, said she couldn’t further her university education as a result of lack of funds. She expressed hope that she will make a living out of the poultry business and reignite her educational pursuit.

Another beneficiary, Mrs Kate Onyeizu said, “Though I am managing a little business but with this training everything will change, because the opportunity to be here has not just boosted my morale but has also opened my eyes to so many things which will help in sustaining my poultry business.”

The minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, who was represented by the Abia State FMARD Director, Engr. Victor Ihediwa, encouraged prospective poultry farmers to acquire formal training or skills before venturing into the poultry business to avoid huge losses.
