Armed men yesterday attacked the campaign office of the Minister of Interior and former governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, during a meeting by his supporters in Osogbo, Osun State.
The attackers, numbering about five, stormed Aregbesola’s campaign office known as Oranmiyan House at Gbodofon area and caused panic in the area where the All Progressives Congress members loyal to Aregbesola were holding their meeting.
Members of The Osun Progressive who were at the meeting ran helter-skelter. A witness said the gunmen shot many times into the air.
The chairman of the TOP caucus, Mr Lowo Adebiyi, said he identified one of the attackers.
Reacting, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Osun state governor, Ismail Omipidan, said his boss was not a violent person, urging all to embrace peace.
